FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

D.O.A STUDIOS HAVE REACHED THE TEN YEAR MILESTONE

And to celebrate they are having an open day this Sunday 27th October.

D.O.A Studios opened its doors to the public on Monday 20th October 2003. After the unfortunate events that lead to the closure of Ionian Studios, local musicians Andy Dawson and Don McColl, decided to take the reigns and keep a service to Bolton music alive.

Now run by Andy with his partner Claire Barnett, D.O.A has been behind the scenes of many musical events and organisations in Bolton, some sadly now defunct and others going strong.

Fond memories include supplying sound for the Bolton Music Collective’s Bolton Music Showcases, the now legendary music nights at Number 15 and providing a home to Inaudible Magazine and Bolton Music Radio. Currently, D.O.A is proud to help out with the Rock IT! events, A Night for Jennifer, and gigs at the Dog and Partridge including the annual Dogstock and Hushed Puppies festivals.

Having been around for a decade, Claire feels it would be remiss not to celebrate. She said “We’re really grateful to the Bolton music community for sticking with us and helping to make D.O.A what it is. I’m really proud of what Andy has achieved here and couldn’t let the anniversary go by without acknowledgement. It also gives us the opportunity to say thanks to our existing bands and to make new friends.”

The event will be fully catered, with other activities including an exhibition of Nik Bryant’s photography, a jam room, acoustic performances, and an old-school X-box tournament to truly re-live 2003!

The open day will run from 11am to 10pm on Sunday 27th October and everyone is invited, whether interested in band rehearsals, P.A.s, music workshops or just listening to awesome local music with a free beer and buffet.

Andy would like to leave the last words to his friend and former colleague at D.O.A:

We’ve lost jobs, friends and families and still pulled through to survive.” Chris Evans (excerpt from ‘Search for the Big Nineteen’ The Chris Evans Collective)
